Some Good Surf...Finally

It's been so flat lately! I've been waiting for so long. Running has been important to me in the meantime, but that's over for a week now. Although I ran/walked my half-maarathon last week and the subsequent six or seven weeks were focused on training, I have noticed that even if I wanted to surf, no waves have been seen. That is, until Friday. On Friday, waves returned. A small norther blew through making for small, but consistent waves. I took my 9' Softop out. Because of Mardi Gras and awful parking possibilities, I decided to surf at Flagship, which is now involved in a controversy. The waves were best there, and parking was available. I really enjoyed myself. The key to having fun was finding the right spot in which to catch waves. I was able to do that. It was a great afternoon.

Oddly enough, little did I know at the time that the Flagship/25th street would be involved in controversy this week. Apparently, the demolition crew hired to tear down the Flagship, didn't bother to put nets under their destruction. They let the glass and concrete fall into the water. Eyewitnesses saw them tossing the debris in; however, the company hired for the destruction is denying it. It's being covered in the local daily newspaper and one of the local television channels. I'll be curious to see what the outcome will be.
