Weeknight surfing

During the past couple of weeks northers or cold fronts have been pushing through Galveston, giving surfers some deliciously wonderful waves to play on and maneuver. I've been lucky enough to make it down after work. I'm not making it just as the front comes through, but, fortunately, I've been making it down before it has blown flat. I've had a ball. Last Monday, I decided that I needed to surf like I cycle...that is, I need to be more aggressive while surfing. It paid off! I had one of my best surfing sessions ever. I went way to the outside with Brian, got into position fast and managed to catch waves! I felt the drop twice, which is an incredible feeling. I feel like it was a turning point for me. That's not to say that I won't make major mistakes and fumble ever again, but I feel more confident. While the cold fronts are stopping soon I'm sure, I still think I'll be able to get in some weeknight surf with the sloppier southerly swell.

On another note, I was invited to go out with Brian on his new SUPs. What a blast! I'm sure I'll be doing it again soon. I might rent one the next time we have a flat spell. It's a great way to go out in the water and practice stability on a board even when there are no waves. Will I ever buy one? Maybe not, but I also know never to say never!
